Gertrude Louise Conant, 82, of Higganum, wife of the late Richard E. Conant, passed away on Sunday, November 9th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Simsbury, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (Mitchel) Burkett. Gertrude lived in Higganum for over 50 years and was employed at Cheseborough-Ponds for 15 years. She is survived by two sons; Donald E. Conant and his life partner, Deepak Subhramanian of Rocky Hill and James E. Conant of Middletown; a sister, Edna Burkett of Hartford; and a son-in-law, Lawrence Stankus and his wife, Marie, of Higganum. Beside her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Stankus.
