After 91 years of energetically living, Gertrude (Leonard) Leary, died December 2 at Newfield House in was a dedicated parishioner of St Peter’s Church and Women’s League. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Indian Brook Elementary. Her community outreach enriched Plymouth Library, Jordan Hospital, Scouts, and Council on Aging. Her 50 plus years of friendship with her Lunch Bunch ladies meant the world to her. Born June 11, 1929, in Stoughton MA to Melvin and Dora Leonard, she grew alongside siblings Melvin, Charles, Dorothy, Barbara, Earl, Roy, then later their spouses, children and grandchildren. She cherished her “Leonard” family deeply, particularly her longtime sisterhood with Barbara. Her “Leary Family” In laws, their spouses, children and grandchildren were also a huge part of Gert’s happiness here on enjoyed a loving marriage and partnership of 44 years with Joseph Timothy Leary. Together they had 9 children, 13 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren. Her love for each grew as the families grew. Children are Mike (Sue) Leary, Kevin (Lucile) Leary, Karen (Gordon) Toupal, Kathi (Jeff) Forman, Dianne (Bill) Jones, Brian Leary, Maureen (Alan) Costa, Ken Leary and Steven Leary. A true matriarch, she remarkably coordinated the living at 3 Timothy Lane in Plymouth MA for over 50 years. We will acutely miss her unending energy, faith, curiosity, positiveness and twinkle-eyed laughter. May her traits be carried on in all who were loved by her.
