Mrs. Holt, who reached the age of 108, peacefully passed away at a local medical facility. She was very well known and respected in Southern California as a religious woman and a Prayer Warrior. Mrs. Holt founded ‘The Need of the Hour Prayer Group’ and took her message of God’s goodness everywhere she could and anywhere she was needed.

In 1948, she met Mr. Luvoid Holt. They were united in marriage on Nov 6, 1948. On May 19, 1958 Luvoid was called home to Glory.

She was also preceded in death by her parent and six siblings; Kattie Gipson, Mamie Newsome, Ruth Bell Carter, Alice Collins, Johnnie B. Collins and Saddie McCuloch.

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Gertrude J. Holt went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after 108 years of laboring in the vineyard. Gertrude said that she wanted no crying, no weeping and no mourning at her passing; for she fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith, II Timothy 4:7.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sister, Bertha Stroud of Bossier City, LA; nieces: Rosie (Arthur) Brown of Shreveport, LA and Dattie Starr of San Diego, CA and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
