Gertrude Henrietta Bunschoten Cornell, 92, of Kalamazoo, died peacefully in her sleep, April 13, 2017, at the Upjohn Care Center. She was born May 11, 1924, in Vicksburg, Michigan, to Jasper and Gertie Bunschoten. She married Harry Cornell on August 8, 1948 and he survives.

She is also survived by her son, William (Phyllis) Cornell, of Vicksburg, and daughter, Linda (Stephen) Stanford, of Perrysburg, Ohio; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Yahr; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Bunschoten and Mary Geiger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Jasper, George, and Henry, and sisters, Sebertha Decker and Florence Hayward, as well as one grandson, John Stanford.

Gertrude worked at the Upjohn Company, retiring in 1983 after 23 years. She and Harry enjoyed camping throughout the United States and wonderful winters in Bradenton, Florida, where they maintained a home until 2011. They also resided for many years at Klines Resort in Vicksburg. Gertrude was a talented seamstress and enjoyed many other crafts. She loved to play cards, bingo, shuffleboard, and computer games. She also enjoyed flea marketing and garage sales on the weekends. She was a dear friend to all she encountered and will be missed by many.
