Details: Gertrude E. Greene, 92, an 11 year resident of Hanover, MD and formerly Brooklyn, NY died on September 24, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Greene was born on January 25, 1917 in Charleston, SC to the late David and Rose Reed. She worked as a dietician for brookerage firm in New York. Mrs. Greene was a member of St. Phillip Episcopal Church in Brooklyn where she ran the food pantry for over 18 years and was a member of the Adesta Fedelus Women’s Group. She was also a member of New Life Fellowship International Ministries in Hanover, MD where she was part of the Caring Callers. Mrs. Greene also belonged to the O’Malley’s Senior Center Bowling Team. Mrs. Greene is preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Greene, Sr., her son William Alexander Greene, Jr. and her granddaughter Alexis Greene. She is survived by her daughter in law Eleanor M. Greene of Charleston, SC, her grandson Dwayne A. Greene I and his wife Mary H. of Severn, her great grandchildren Erica Wells, Manuel Mack, Alisha Greene, Dwayne Greene II, Alexis Greene, her great great grandchildren Cameron Scott and Jamare Mack, her god-daughter Roberta McKinney, her dear friend Geneva Hollins and a host of nieces and nephews.
