Gertrude Ann Daniels (Trudy), 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Gertrude Ann Walrath in Harrisville, New York on July 13, 1936, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Walrath. Trudy enjoyed playing bridge and the company of her grandchildren and had a special love for animals and the Adirondacks, where she grew up. In 1958, she married her husband, Kenneth Irwin Daniels, whom she met while they attending college together at Rochester Institute of Technology. She majored in medical technology and after leaving college, she worked as a lab technician for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Later, after living in Roselle, New Jersey for a couple years, she and Ken moved to Matawan, New Jersey in 1963, where they bought a house and raised a family.
Trudy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Keyport, New Jersey for many years.
Trudy was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Mary (Duchano) Walrath, her sisters, Mamie, Peggy and Josephine and her brother, Henry.
Trudy is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Daniels of Aberdeen, New Jersey, her dear children, Larry and his wife, Cathy of Somerville, New Jersey, Heidi Daniels of Aberdeen, New Jersey, Susan and her husband, Dan of Hazlet, New Jersey, her cherished grandchildren, Amelia, Daniel and Samantha and her loving sisters, Mary and Jane. Trudy will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
