Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, Gerlinde “Linda” Boyd was reunited with her beloved husband on Friday, March 25, 2022.
Linda was raised in Czechoslovakia and moved to Germany as a refugee following WWII and later immigrated to the United States. In 1961, she met a handsome stripling U.S. Army soldier, Joseph Newton Boyd. Theirs was a whirlwind romance. They were married in Pacific Grove, CA July 1, 1961. This union was blessed with two children, John and Pam. They were all sealed together in the Logan Temple on October 8, 1969.
Linda was an outgoing, friendly, feisty, and loving woman who worked hard and enjoyed being productive and industrious. She managed the PX at DDO for many years. When she retired it took 3 people to take her place.
Linda loved working in her large garden canning her homegrown fruits and vegetables. She shared her home canned goods and frozen jams with all her family, friends, and neighbors. Every Christmas season Linda baked thousands of delicious European cookies that she joyfully shared with family and her numerous friends. She loved to travel and visited every continent but Antarctica. More than anything else, Linda unconditionally loved her family.
Linda loved her Savior and was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served with all her heart in Mutual, YW presidency, RS president, primary teacher, and single adult leader. Together with Joseph, they served two missions in Frankfurt, Germany and Atlanta, Georgia Temple.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Pam Boyd DeAnda, her grandsons, Brandon (Jay) Bustos, Dustin (McKensie) Boyd, great-grandchildren, Antonio, Isaiah, Angeliyah, and great-great-granddaughter, Amiyah, daughter, Jackie (Rusty) Long, and her Swedish daughter, Christina (Shaun) Myers, her grandchildren, Kjerstin (Clark), Katarina (Jace), Zackary, Daniel (Heidi), and Thomas, great-grandchildren, Annika, Hanna, Sven, Leif, Liam, and Amelia, and her brother Manfred and sister, Isolde.
