Gerlin Ray Melton, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away on December 16, 2016 at the age of 76. Gerlin was born in Monette, Arkansas to Cora Laurine and Ralph Melton. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his two sons, Duane and Ronald Melton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia; his daughter, Jane; his grandsons, Michael and his wife, Destiny, Duane, Christopher and his wife, Alyssa, Bradley, Matthew; his granddaughters, Stephanie, Kayla, Sarah, Brittany; his great-grandchildren, Faith, Michael, Kylie, Serenity, Kyler, Kaydence, Rylan, Cylis, Jaidyn, Rayland, Kristopher, Kinsley and another one on the way! He is also survived by his brothers, RL and Jerry and his sisters, Betty, Nancy and Sue. Gerlin’s childhood in Arkansas, according to stories, was an exuberant experience. The move to Kern County as a young teenager is what started his journey through life until the end. At the age of 19 he joined the Army and as a result he found the discipline and courage to be the best he could be.
