Griswold – Gerard “Jerry” Surprenant, 78, of Norman Road passed away Monday afternoon at Regency Heights of Norwich.
He was born August 10, 1934 in Norwich, son to the late Rose (Fortier) and Marshall Surprenant. On December 28, 1981 he was married to Beverly (Richardson) Surprenant. She survives him.
Gerard worked for Federal Paper Board for many years until his retirement in 1996. After his retirement he worked at Walmart as a greeter from 2000-2003.
He enjoyed watching Nascar.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Norma Johnson and her husband Gene of Griswold, Patricia Cote and her husband James of Baltic, his sister Estelle of Alaska, four step children, four grandchildren Stacey Furlik and her husband James of Florida, Christy Bernat and her husband Richard, Jr. of Griswold, Timothy Glaude and partner Nicole Proulx of Canterbury, and Amber Kempesta of Canterbury, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerard was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.
