WORCESTER – Gerard J. Vezina, 94, of 383 Mill St., a former baker, died yesterday in Clinton Hospital after an illness.

His wife of 53 years, Simone J. (Tessier) Vezina, died in 1996. He leaves three sons, Richard G. Vezina of Oxford, Roger L. Vezina of Ossipee, N.H., and Robert W. Vezina of Worcester; a daughter, Juliette R. Clark of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Leo Vezina, and two sisters, Regina Vezina and Simone Cahill, died before him. He was born in Quebec City, son of George and Rosalie (Laliberte) Vezina, and lived here most of his life. In 1964, he moved to Waltham and returned here in 1996. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Asia and the Pacific. He was also a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Vezina was a baker and worked at the Worcester Market, the Bancroft Hotel and at Regis College, Weston. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Waltham.
