Gerard Fraser, Sr., 76 of Milford, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 12, 2011. Born on September 18, 1934 in Old Town, Maine, he was the son of the late Charles and Juliette Boucher Fraser. He was the husband of Nellie Shirland Fraser of Milford.
Gerard proudly served in the U.S. Airforce. He worked as an engineer in the construction business for many years and was a active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers #478. Gerard was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of the Milford Bow Hunters. He also loved camping with his wife of 57 years and for many years would retire to Eustice Florida in the cold winter months. He greatly enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing shuffleboard. Gerard was known by all who knew and loved him to always be laughing and joking, a real “wiseguy”.
In addition to his wife, Nellie, Gerard is survived by his two children, Christine Benway and her husband Brian of Milford, and Gerard Fraser and his wife Kristin of Seymour; six grandchildren, Brian and David Benway, Michael, Austin, Christopher and Samantha Fraser; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Benway; and two siblings, Sylvia Weatherby and Phillip Fraser. In addition to his parents, Gerard was predeceased by three siblings, Danny and Ronald Fraser and Gloria White.
