East Greenbush – Gerard A. Brehm, Sr., 81, of Bloomingdale Avenue died Monday, January 28, 2019, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Henry Brehm and Mary McAvoy Brehm and husband of the late Elaine Beverly Wright Brehm. He was raised in Troy, lived in North Greenbush and had resided in East Greenbush since 1975. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute class of 55, Siena College, class of 59 and was a member of the Air Force Reserve.
Jerry was employed and part owner of Sno-Fun Ski and Tennis in West Sand Lake many years ago, NY Olympic Authority in 1980, Business Administrator for Schodack School District and Budget Director for the City of Troy.
Jerry was a member of the US Professional Tennis Registry coaching at RPI and Catholic Central High School. He also coached basketball and football at Shaker High School and played semi-pro basketball. He was also a professional vocalist at churches and special events and singing on the WRGB Earle Pudney Show. He was a member of the East Greenbush ELKS Lodge #2073 and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Elaine.
Survivors include his three sons, Jerry A. Brehm, Jr. and wife Judy, Slingerlands, Michael J. Brehm and wife Alison, Latham, and John J. Brehm and wife Valerie, Troy; his grandchildren, Joe, Trevor and Conor Brehm, Jacklyn and Justin Brehm; his nieces, Mary Ellen Raposa and Maureen Brehm. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Brehm.
