Geraldine Theresa Sadler died at the age of 90 on August 24, 2022. She was born on October 13, 1931, to Andrew and Grace O’Connor in Yonkers, NY. Gerry spent most of her life in Westchester Country and Carmel, NY. There she married Walter Schneider and after becoming a widow at the young age of 29, later married William Sadler.
Gerry retired from the state of NY as an administrative assistant with the Putnam County Health Department and moved to Sandpiper Golf and Country Club, in Lakeland, FL, where she remained a resident for 29 years.
Gerry is survived by three children, Cheryl Furr, Kenneth Schneider, and Laurie Lawrence, along with six grandchildren, Jennifer Melton, Ashley Barrett, Kyle Lawrence, Garrett Schneider, Jayde Lawrence, and Cierra Thatcher, and five great children. Gerry is also survived by her sisters, Idela Boccadoro and Grace Tual (also a resident of Sandpiper in Lakeland). She is preceded in death by both of her husbands, her sister Doris DeBlasi, brother Clifford O’Connor, and daughter Joann Melton.
Gerry enjoyed her retirement in Florida and spent her free time volunteering at St. Anthony’s Thrift Store, writing poetry, swimming, dancing, shopping, and even the occasional trip to Hard Rock in Tampa. She loved to travel and sailed on over 50 cruises throughout the world. She was a social butterfly and will be missed by many. May the lord comfort her as she reunites with loved ones in heaven.
