DURHAM- Geraldine Hamilton Eubanks, 88, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Eubanks was born August 13, 1929 in Oxford, NC to the late John and Thelma Hamilton. To know Geraldine was to know the wide range of personality she could show. Through the years she mellowed, but she still had plenty whit to share and was often low in filtering her comments. Geraldine was a person who never met a stranger. She loved hard candy, oatmeal, popsicles and Chick-Fil-A sauce. She most often shopped in the Men’s Department of any store in search of striped shirts with pockets and collars. If you knew her at all you were familiar with these statements: “I don’t eat meat. Do you know Lennis? Don’t worry about a thing. Refuse to have it.” She enjoyed a good head scratch, sitting in the sun, Summit Church, her Summit small group and Court TV. Though the last few weeks were a continual struggle, her fight and determination caused her to outlive all the expectations of family, friends and medical professionals. She will be greatly missed by those who love her but those same people rejoice that she is whole, healed and suffering no more. This was a woman who had a zeal and will to live and to do in her own way, in her own style and in her own time.
Mrs. Eubanks is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon T. Eubanks; parents, John and Thelma Hamilton.
Mrs. Eubanks is survived by her daughters, Debbie Miller, Robyn Eason (Wes), Sandi Haithcock; grandchildren, Melissa Miller Johnson (Sylvain), Kimberly E. Harris (Joshua), D. Aaron Haithcock, Carrie E. Bowman (Rich), Justin B. Eason (Jennifer), and Joshua R. Eason (Nelly); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklynn, Kaylee, Blake, Quynn, Phoenix, Alayna, Asher, and Evelyn, and several other loving family members.m.m.
