Geraldine “Gerry” Faye Evans, 63, of Spirit Lake passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Gerry was born on October 25, 1953 to Gerald “Pete” and Marlys (Mitchell) Evans in Eldora, Iowa. She graduated from Eldora High School and went on to obtain her associates degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. Gerry worked over the past years for Stollers Fisheries, driving bus for Spirit Lake Community Schools, driving charter bus for South West Tours and for the Jackson Community Schools in Jackson, MN, Keglers Kitchen, Dickinson County Communication Center as a Dispatcher and Jailer, the Spirit Lake Fareway Meat Department, and the Lutheran Lakeside Camp as a Cook and Grounds Keeper. Gerry enjoyed playing softball in her younger years, bowling, doing crafts, taking photos and displaying them at the Clay County Fair, and trying her luck at various casinos. She is survived her father Gerald “Pete” Evans of Eldora, IA; son Sammy Van Lenning of Spirit Lake; daughter Ginger Van Lenning of Spirit Lake; son Sonny (Chelsey) Van Lenning; grandchildren Jazmin, Kaitlyn, Marcus, Janesa, Kylie, Mason, Riley, Liam, Karter and Parker; sisters Pam (Bruce) Tidman of New Providence, IA; Becky (Melvin) Jeske of Pratt, KS; and Kelly (Tony) Smith of Estherville, IA; and her significant other Gary Kuhlman. She was preceded in death by her mother Marlys Evans.
