Geraldine B. Langin, 99, of Centralia, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2021at the Golden Years Care Center, Harrisonville, MO.
Geraldine (Geri) was born March 30, 1922 in Dewitt, MO, the daughter of Clarence Simmons and Gertrude Simmons Williams (nee Baker). She married Dean Langin in Perryvillle, MO. on April 20, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.
Geraldine is survived by three children: Linda (Charles) Cox of Harrisonville, MO, Richard (Peggy) Langin of Savage, MN and Chet (Flossie) Langin of Carbondale, IL; seven grandchildren: Christy (Matthew) McKay of Richmond, Kentucky; Karen (Jeff) Shook of Peculiar, MO; Gregory (Peggy Merlee) Langin of Fullerton, CA; Brian Langin of Forest Lake, MN; Janelle (Alan) Grueneich of Prior Lake, MN; Serena Loyd of Mena, AR and Jennifer Langin of Carbondale, IL; twenty great-grandchildren : Anna (Adam) Wilkins, Jared and Levi McKay; Jessica, Kallie, Joseph and Kyle Shook; Justin, Jordan and Makayla Langin; Henry, Megan and Alexander Grueneich; Kaitlyn Shade, Abigail Langin and Lilly Loyd; Kierra, Kaden, Kamma and Kali Langin and three great-great grandchildren: Isabelle, McKinley and Kingston Shade; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Harold Simmons and one infant great-grandchild Aeris Loyd.
As a young girl she walked down the aisle and gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the Christian Church in Fairfield, IL. She graduated high school in Chester, IL in 1939 and married Dean Langin in 1942. They were married for 67 years and had three children. Geri and Dean especially loved and cherished time spent with family in their years of travelling across the country.
In 2010 she was given an Honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church USA, in recognition of her faithful service. She taught adult Sunday School and sang in the Church Choir for over 50 years until she moved to Harrisonville, MO. She retired after 24 years as Secretary to the Superintendent at Centralia High School, was a member over 40 years and past president of Business and Professional Women (BPW). Geri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. In addition to loving her family and her church she was an avid Centralia Orphans and St. Louis Cardinals fan. For many years she enjoyed swimming, knitting, playing bridge, sewing and puzzles. Geraldine was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
