Geraldine “GiGi” Skelton, age 88, of St. Charles, previously of Arlington Heights and Scottsdale, AZ, passed away into the arms of her Savior on January 27.

GiGi was born on October 5, 1933, in Telluride, CO, to William and Kathryn Hanson.  When her mother passed away when GiGi was seven, extended family, including Bernadine Hanson, Lamar Quinn, Mary Finnigan and Herb and Ollie Lines, stepped in to assist in raising her.

In 1955, GiGi graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Education and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  In her senior year, she married the handsome love of her life, Norman Skelton.  During their 57 years of marriage they lived in California, Arizona, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.  GiGi taught at the elementary level at schools across the country, and also worked as an inventory analyst at Honeywell in Arlington Heights for many years.

In addition to teaching and raising her family, GiGi was always giving of herself to others by volunteering at many organizations including Meals on Wheels, Fox Valley Food Bank, several hospitals and served as a Eucharistic Minister offering communion at nursing homes.  She was a faithful member of St.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Casey Skelton (Mary) of Chicago, Kelley (Britt) Lienau of Geneva; granddaughters Cassie, Jenny and Paige; and stepsiblings Dick, Helen, Lorraine and Paul Hanson.  She will also be missed by her loyal rescue dog, Wink.

In addition to her mother, Gigi is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norm, and by her father and stepmother, William and Bernadine Hanson.

A special thank you to the staff at River Glen of St. Charles, and our friends and neighbors who loved and cared for this special person.
