Gerald Wayne Phillips, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

Gerald was born on May 11, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids to William and Luella (Johnson) Phillips.  He is a graduate of Lincoln High School.  Gerald was married on December 15, 1976 to Donna Mae Luke at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from August 14, 1967 to May 15, 1971.

During his employment career, he worked in instrumentation at the Port Edwards Paper Mill.  Over the years, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and air planes.  He also loved animals, even if he didn’t want to admit it!  Gerald liked being outside feeding and watching the squirrels race around the yard on a daily basis.  He also loved the family cat, Snowflake, even when woken up bright and early for breakfast routines.  Most of all, his greatest passion was his family.  Traveling the United States with his wife and daughter in her younger years was something that he cherished.  As time went on, his grandchildren kept him young as he taught them the joys of camping, tubing, fishing, and four-wheeling.  By the time great-grandchildren came along, he may have slowed down a bit, but never missed a chance to joke around and watch cartoons with them.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Francine Mae Erickson; grandchildren Whitney (Conrad) Sawyer, Nathan, and Trinity; great-grandchildren London and Kase; and his childhood best friend Harold Trickle (Debra Plawman).

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; sister Karen Stelmacher; and granddaughter Stephanie Erickson.
