Gerald W. Fuhrman, 71, of Jacksonville, IL died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at his residence. He was born January 17, 1944, in Quincy, the son of Raymond F. and Elsie M. Dicks Fuhrman. He married Rebecca R. Rawlings on June 26, 1965, in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by a son, Troy Fuhrman of Jacksonville; two daughters, Tracey Hutton (husband, Andy) of Bluffs and Tammy Hayes (husband, Mike) of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Tyler Fuhrman of Jacksonville, Katie Brutlag (husband, Dustin) of Woodson, Allison Hayes of Jacksonville, and Andie Wells (husband, Landon) of Danville; a great-grandchild, Olivia Brutlag, and another great-grandchild expected in June; three brothers, Raymond Fuhrman (wife, Ginny) of Harrison, AR, Ron Fuhrman (wife, Diana) of New Florence, MO, and Don Fuhrman (Bonnie) of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David Fuhrman and Bill Fuhrman (surviving wife, Joanne of Quincy).

Jerry was employed at Motorola in Quincy and Jacksonville News Agency in Jacksonville prior to a 40-year career as owner and operator of Fuhrman Janitorial Services, providing commercial cleaning services in the Jacksonville area.

He was a devoted member and elder in the Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation of Jacksonville. He was well known for his positive approach to life and always kept busy with a project to benefit his family, his business, or his community. He was loved and respected by everyone he met. Jerry enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, but his greatest passion was the love and care of his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and the new light of his life, great-grandchild Olivia Rose.
