Gerald V. Lakota Sr., 79, of rural McConnell, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, at his home. Born February 13, 1934, in Chicago, he was the son of Valentine and Ruth (Brown) Lakota.
On August 18, 1953, he and Patricia Zapalla were united in marriage. He was retired from Goodyear and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of McConnell; one son Gerald (Nicolet Ludewig) Lakota Jr. of Freeport; son-in-law Roger Shultz of Rock City; five grandchildren Nicole (Chris) Kovarik of Rockton, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Heiden of Freeport, Courtney, Levi, Nicholas Lakota all of Freeport; seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one daughter Pam Shultz, and brother and sister.
