Gerald Sparks, 83, Anderson, went home to be with the Lord September 2, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis Indiana after a sudden illness.

He was born March 17, 1925 in Tacoma, Virginia, and had lived in this area since 1946. He served with the United States Navy in WWII where he earned the Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Star.

Gerald retired in 1987 from General Motors Plant #7 where he worked in production. He was also a Licensed Practical Nurse working privately and for both Community and St. John’s Hospitals from 1972-2003. He avidly volunteered as a nurse. He loved animals, especially dogs, antiques, and Song Fest.

Survivors include his three daughters, Tamara Price & husband, Randall, Debbie Hunnicutt & husband, Bruce and Cathy Gist & husband, Greg, all of Anderson; two granddaughters, Courtney Hunnicutt Buck & husband, Lance and Autumn Eriksen, both of Anderson; two grandsons, Gavin Gist and Garth Gist, both of Anderson; sister, Virginia Brown of California; step great grandson, Bronsin Buck of Anderson; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friends, Ashanti Thompson, Joe Ramey and Doug Penley and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Calvin & Maude Nickles Sparks; five sisters, Loretta Sparks, Ethel Bulick, Hazel Bundy, Betty Hudson and Cora Sparks Smith; and a brother, Norman Sparks.
