Gerald Richard Wesley, of Southgate, Michigan passed away December 5, 2020. He was 84 years old. Beloved husband of Patricia. Loving father of Jerry (Terri) Wesley, Debbie (Steve) Vessells, Janice (Kirk) VanHeusen, and Gwen (Doug) North. Proud Papa of Marty (Laura) Vowell, Ryan (Taryn) VanHeusen, Kyle VanHeusen, Danny Vessells, Nathan Wesley, Colin (Lauren) North, Nicole Vessells, Riley North, and Jacob Wesley. Preceded in death by his siblings Marlene Strachan and Leo Wesley. Jerry graduated from Redford High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Europe. After his honorable discharge he started work at A.Z. Shmina & Sons. It was there that he met Pat, the pretty receptionist who became the love of his life. They were married for 61 years. He spent many years as Senior Estimator at Schmina before joining Walbridge Aldinger until his retirement. Jerry had a great gift for numbers. He was also a skilled woodworker creating hope chests and toy chests for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, etc. and passed that love on to his children. But most of all, he loved being with his wife, Pat. They enjoyed eating dinner out at favorite restaurants, especially Mallie’s, where their drinks were always waiting at their favorite table. They also enjoyed their many trips downtown to the casino where Jerry always loved to gamble (only spending his “allowance” of course). Jerry will be remembered as a strong, smart man with a great handshake, deep laugh, warm hug and a twinkle in his eye. He will be deeply missed.
