Gerald Larson, age 75, of Algona, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Kossuth County Regional Health Center. Gerald Rockwell Larson, the son of Loyd and Helen (Clancy) Larson, was born on July 8, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from LuVerne High School in 1958 and continued his education at Iowa State University College obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Gerald enlisted into the Army National Guard in July of 1962 and was honorably discharged in July 1968. Gerald was united in marriage to Cheryl Grebner on February 1, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Gerald was a devoted farmer and raised cattle. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and has served on many church boards. He was also a member of Kiwanis, the Iowa Cattleman’s Association, Farm Bureau and also served on the elevator board.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl of Algona; daughter, Sue (Bart) Brincks of Riceville; son, Kenneth Larson of Des Moines; grandchildren, Bryce and Bret Brincks and Guthrie, Anna, Gabriel and Andi Larson; sister, Blythe Edge of Humboldt; brother, Don (Eunice) Larson of Livermore and sister-in-law, Nancy Larson of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carolyn Larson; his brother, Marion Larson and his brother-in-law, Edwin Edge.
