Gerald “Gerry” Kerlin of Newnan, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the age of 60. Gerry was the son of William and Patricia Kerlin, originally from Arizona and Maryland, but resident of Newnan for 30 years. Family was the most important thing to Gerry, and he leaves behind his wife, Ann, two children, two grandchildren, and two fur babies Chloe and Cocoa. His daughter Amy is married to Marius, and their children are Will and Anna of Sharpsburg. Gerry’s son Austin is married to Jennifer and they live in Carrollton. Gerry also was survived by his mother, Patricia Kerlin Hines, nine brothers and sisters, and lots of beloved nieces and nephews. He was passionate about music, sports and working in his garage. When he was in high school he punted a football completely across the football field and was instantly recruited onto the Varsity team. He played college basketball on scholarship and became a licensed A&P aircraft mechanic. Gerry’s love of aircraft led to a 30-year career working as an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Omni International as well as serving as Maintenance Control for Transmeridian Airlines and at Air Tran. In addition, he owned a local auto repair service for several years. His first well-paying job was playing drums in a band as a teenager, and he continued to play music with friends throughout his life.
