Gerald (Jerry) C. Washburn, of Owosso, died peacefully in his sleep and went home to be with his friend Jesus on June 24 at the age of 77. Jerry collected model cars and he loved trains. When his grandsons were younger, he would take them on the train to the North Pole. In fact one of the last things he talked about was getting his great-grandsons together to take the North Pole trip. He also had a love for music. You could hear his smooth bass voice every Sunday at Grove Bible Church, of which, he was a member his entire adult life. He will be remembered most by his love for Jesus and how he talked to God constantly like a friend. He was hard of hearing and his neighbor said she could hear his prayers through her wall. Jerry was born on May 24, 1940, the son of Gaylord and Barbara (Keyes) Washburn. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Ann Swartz and Georgia (Pete) Koterba and four children: Barbara Anna Blackburn, Linna Jo Watson (Marc), Clifford Washburn (Bobbi), and Kimberly Schulz (Matthew); ten grandchildren: Robert Haney (Kerstin), Micah Reed, Cameron Reed (Shania), Kavin Watson (Morgan), Jessica Watson Bullough (Ty), Clayton Washburn, Ethan Washburn, Clifford Schulz (Adrienne), Joseph Schulz, Pearl Schulz, and two great-grandchildren: Teagan Haney and Liam Schulz. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Joyce Washburn and Marlene Flanner, and his brother Richard (Rick) Washburn. He loved his brother so much, that they both went to be with the Lord on the same day.Online condolences may be sent to the family at Nelson-House.com.
