Gerald L. (Jerry) Hansen was born October 14, 1937 on a farm near Gladbrook, Iowa in Tama County to Ruth Larraine Hansen.

He was raised by his grandparents, Nick & Gretchen Hansen on farms in Tama & Grundy County.

He graduated from Beaman High School in 1956.

His first marriage though it ended in divorce, produced a son, Jeff, and three daughters, Lori, Jan and Laina.

Gerald farmed in Grundy County and then moved to Clarke County south of Murray then to a farm north of Leon in Decatur County.

Spring of 1980 Gerald and Betty started farming west of Cumming in Warren County until November 1, 1989, when they bought their farm east of Derby where they currently live.

Last several years, due to his health, they have cash rented.

Gerald’s main love has always been farming, but he also liked NASCAR, pro & college football and basketball.

He liked older tractors and machinery.

He had a nice collection of John Deere miniature equipment.

Gerald passed away about 10:00 a.m.

He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, brother, sister and one daughter.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Betty, stepchildren, Norman Beenken of Chariton, Nolan Beenken and wife Chris of Augusta, Wisconsin; Nancy McDonald & Billy Manser of Chariton; Nola Rasmus & husband Steve of Chariton; Nathan Beenken & Mindy Ohnemus of Adel; grandchildren Tana Beenken Edwards; Megan Beenken; Nichole Beenken of Bentonville, Arkansas, Kelly Austad and husband Brandon of Augusta, Wisconsin; Jordan Beenken of Augusta, Wisconsin; Adam Bishop and wife Lauren, Dusty Bishop & Jennifer Paige, Logan Runyan, Dylan Runyan, Brady Rasmus & wife Jennifer, all of Chariton, Chayse Beenken and Grace Beenken of Adel; great grandchildren: Aubrey Donahue, Jena Fraley,

Dylan Edwards and Laine Philpott of Bentonville, Arkansas, Lilly Bishop and

Addie Bishop of Chariton, Katelyn Bishop

of Chariton, Iris Williams of Unionville,

Missouri and Aubri

and Alexa Rasmus of Chariton.

Also surviving is stepdad Harry Wareham of Colorado Springs, Colorado and three children and grandkids from his first marriage.
