Gerald E. Jerry Weiden, 72, of Peru, died June 3, 2008 in his home, following a 6 month illness.
Mr. Weiden was born July 31, 1935 in LaSalle, to Gerald G. and Virginia (Michalski) Weiden. He married Mary Frances Vishnauski on March 2, 1957 in Spring Valley. She died December 12, 2002. He then married Cheri A. Millard on May 5, 2005. He graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1953, and L.P.O.J.C. He served from 1954-1956 in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, as well as the U.N. Service Medal. He was Regional Manager for Physicians Mutual Insurance Company for 35 years before his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Josephs Church, Peru.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri of Peru; 1 son, Mark (Pam) Weiden of Golden, Colorado; 3 daughters, Traci (Richard) OSadnick of Peru, Wendi (Jacob) Harmon of Utica, and Trina (Timothy) Schmollinger of Peru; 2 stepsons, Anthony (Tanette) Welsh, and Jason (Stephanie) Welsh both of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna J. (William) Kinczewski of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; his first wife; 1 son, Lonnie Weiden in infancy in 1965; and 1 granddaughter, Annabelle Harmon in 2005.
