Gerald Gay “Jerry” McDaniel, 86 of Newburg, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Heartland of Preston County. He was born August 10, 1928 at Newburg, son of the late John W McDaniel and Cora Larew McDaniel Goff. Jerry was a coal miner, farmer and owner and operator of McDaniel’s sawmill. He was in the United States Army and served in World War II. Jerry is survived by three sons, Dale Wayne McDaniel, Newburg, Jerry Lee McDaniel, Terra Alta, Matthew Scott McDaniel, Kingwood; one daughter, Nancy Williams, Newburg; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Haack of Newburg, Sheria McDaniel of Dover, DE, and Tia McDaniel of Newburg; one step-brother, Carl Goff; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Eugene McDaniel, two brothers, Donald and Harold McDaniel, one step-brother, Tennis Goff, two sisters, Kathleen “Kate” Bolyard and Maxine Patton Hovatter.
