Gerald G. Simone, 83, of the Silver Ridge Park North section of Berkeley Township, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday December 3, 2019. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he lived in Old Bridge, NJ for many years before moving to Berkeley Township in 2004.
Gerald worked for 37 years at PSE&G (mostly as a manager in the Elizabeth, NJ Electric Transmission and Distribution Division) before retiring in 1995. He was also a licensed electrician and co-owner of DJ Electric for many years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having proudly served in a B-47 Bomber Wing of the Strategic Air Command. He was an avid fisherman, boater, and able Captain of his beloved Lady Jean and Lady Jean II. He enjoyed cruises and visits to Atlantic City. Well known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Gerald will be sorely missed by family and friends.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Jean nee Davidson; his parents Cyril and Margaret; and siblings Cyril Jr., Francis, and Joan. He is survived by his son Glen and his wife Marie of Delran, NJ; his daughter Kathryn Leverton of Ewing, NJ; sister Jeannie Burgess of Berkeley Township, NJ; grandson Ryan Leverton and his fiancé Alexis Kaufman; sister-in-law Judy Simone; many nieces and nephews; and his loving companion and steady friend Romy.
