Georgia (Cox) Dvorak, 75, of Merritt Island, FL died Tuesday after a short fight with Lymphoma, but mostly from a broken heart following the loss of her husband, Joseph in October 2015.

Born in Topeka, KS in 1941 to Ralph and Frances Cox, Georgia learned the virtue of hard work at a young age helping pick vegetables in the family’s garden, raising chickens for their family, and working at the soda fountain at Kresge at the age of fourteen. The Topeka flood of 1951 stood out in her mind when she recalled events of her childhood and she often spoke of her parents’ hard work rebuilding after the devastation and the loss of her little black cat.

After high school Georgia attended IBM keypunch school and landed a job helping load driver license data into the state’s new computers. While working there she met Joseph, her husband and best friend of 53 years. She enjoyed boating and water-skiing with Joe and told stories of some of their outings together.
