Georgia A. (Basil) Bima, 66, of Oglesby passed away on March 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Georgia was born January 21, 1950, in La Salle to George and Shirley (Peterlin) Basil. She attended LaSalle Peru Township High School, where she met her husband, Jerome Bima. They married on September 20, 1966, in Holy Family Church, Oglesby.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She retired from Office Max in Peru after 20 years of service. She previously worked at Kmart. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Oglesby. She took great pleasure in baking, decorating cakes and watching her grandchildrens dancing and sporting events. She opened her home to family and friends who visited frequently which she thoroughly enjoyed. With Georgia, acquaintances regularly become friends. Georgia will be remembered as a loving and caring person to everyone she met. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Jerome Bima of Oglesby; six children, Gerri Lynn (Keith) Pearse of Peru, Tammy (Jennifer) Bima of Chicago, Michael (Kim) Bima of Oglesby, Gina Bima of Oglesby, David (Phil) Lowe-Bima of Chicago and Andrea Bima of Peru; five grandchildren, Mallory, Dominic, Sam and Joe Bima and Nicholas Pearse; and three brothers, Bill (Linda) Basil of Mendota, Dan Basil of Oglesby and Dennis (Tracy) Basil of Oglesby.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Ronald Basil.Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or Cops 4 Cancer.
