Griswold – Georgette Florence Veloudis Grenier, 83, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the W.W. Backus Hospital, Norwich.
She was the daughter of Florence (Belanger) Veloudis and George Veloudis. Born in Boston, MA on July 17, 1937 and moved to West Warwick, RI where she attended W.W. schools. On February 3, 1973 she married Edward Grenier who predeceased her in 1993. While living in Voluntown, she was active in politics, serving on many town boards and committees. She worked for Sears in Norwich for many years. She worked as a travel agent for 18 years, 10 of which were in Jewett City at Hebert Travel, where she enjoyed traveling and learning about the world. She served as Voluntown Tax Collector for 8 years, retiring in 2005. She moved to Jewett City in 2007.
She is survived by her brother Lawrence Veloudis, her stepchildren Jennie Charette (Larry), Jessie Pehlert (William), Edward Grenier, Matthew Grenier, and Mary Jernstrom(Bruce), 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She made many wonderful friends along the way.
