Passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was 95 years old. George Errol Williams was born on June 18, 1924 to the late W.H. Errol and Florence (Grubb) Williams in Chicago, Illinois. Norway, Michigan is where George spent the first 18 years of his life. He then attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Dental School in 1949. Upon graduation he taught dentistry at U of M and married his loving wife, E. Elaine Ross. Together they had four children and were married for 43 years. George resided in Saginaw where he was a partner at Faucher Dental Group and he practiced dentistry for over 60 years. During that time he also served two years with the United State Air Force as a dentist in Wichita, Kansas.
George married Ruth “Scottie” Howard on June 19, 1993 and she was his loving companion for the last 26 years. He cherished his family first and foremost. George was a caring, devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be forever missed, He was our “ROCK!
Doc was a perfectionist in everything he did. His strong work ethic was respected by all. He was a true gentleman in every sense, extremely generous donating to almost every charity that came his way. He was an active member of The First Congregational Church and a man of strong faith. George was an active participant in the community. He was a member of the Jaycees, Riverside Kiwanis Club, Saginaw Gun Club, Saginaw Field and Stream, American Dental Association, Saginaw Valley Dental Association, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, Germania and Saginaw County Club. He was also a lifelong member of the Michigan Alumni Association.
Doc was a diehard Michigan fan who held season football tickets for over 40 years. His love for the Wolverines was evident throughout his entire life…GO BLUE!!! He was an avid outdoorsman with a strong passion for upland game hunting, fishing for trout and salmon, and raising his dogs. George enjoyed working out in his yard tending to his roses and vegetable garden. He will be dearly missed and we will forever cherish this wonderful man. The family wishes to thank the care givers (Lora, Barb, John and Shanna) for their wonderful care, compassion and love. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Covenant Hospice Care.
George is survived by his loving wife, Scottie; his four children, Dale (William D.) Sutfin, Scott (Patricia) Williams, Jody (Ken) Berg and Kerry (Clark) Hayes; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Melissa) Williams, Trevor (Nicole) Williams, Ross Williams, Patricia (Michael) Williams, Chad (Lisa) Sutfin, Ty (Jen) Sutfin, Lindsey (Jesse) Jones, Laura Detwiler, Courtney (Troy) Doane and Brandon (Michele) Hayes; 15 great grandchildren and three more on the way.
