George Wilbur Parsons, 81, passed away March 21, 2022. George was born February 22, 1941 in Manhattan, Kansas the son of Wilbur Parsons and Edith Verneal Reinhardt Parsons. George graduated from Alhambra High School and went on to receive his Master’s degree in counseling and guidance at BYU.

 

George married Mary Korth March 6, 1964 in the Logan Temple. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many teaching callings, was a Temple ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls and Logan temples and was a service missionary for the Ogden Bishop’s warehouse.  He was a seminary and institute teacher for ten years including for the Church College of Western Samoa, he served a two-and-a-half-year mission in Tahiti and was a Missionary Training Center Tahitian translator and teacher in recent years.

 

He was a long- time call-in radio show guest as a counselor; licensed marriage family child counselor; High School and Jr. High School counselor; educator and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad prior to college.

 

He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. His interests included BYU sports, Polynesian Affairs, teaching, and remembering facts. He was a fun guy, a teller of tall tales and weaver of imaginative stories. Most of all he was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to brag about his family!! He was the father of three veterans.

 

George is survived by his wife Mary; children Bruce (Molly) Parsons, Moana (Bob) Jacobson, Geoffrey Parsons, Gregory (Holly) Parsons; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
