George W. Onksen, 92, Anderson, died November 3, 2002 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born November 16, 1909 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and resided in Anderson. He moved to Anderson in 1928 coming here from New Jersey, where he spent his childhood.
He retired in 1970 from Guide Lamp, Division of General Motors where he was an engineer for 42 years. He was a member of the Meadowbrook Baptist Church of Anderson where he was a Sunday School Teacher for several years; a long time member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681 F & AM of Anderson. A member of the Anderson Noon Kiwanis for over 42 years where he formerly held the office of LT. Governor.
He is survived by his Wife of 69 years, Martha E. Dodd Onksen whom he married July 8, 1933, in Anderson, IN. Daughter & Son-in-law: Barbara O. & Allen E. Beaty of Anderson. Granddaughter – Betsy Beaty of Anderson. Grandson: Bruce Beaty of Anderson. Great grandchildren: Tracey Hendrick and Kyle Hendrick both of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: George W. & Ella MacNamara Onksen.
