George W. Bruning, 86, Flintstone, Ga., departed this life, Friday, January 11, 2013 at his home. He was a longtime resident of Walker County. George served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Southern Tech and a self employed excavation contractor for many years then worked for Walker County as the County Engineer. George was involved with the building the county’s water treatment plant, landfill, and water wells at Chickamauga. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Lottie Coggins Bruning; and brother, Frank Edward Bruning. Survivors include his wife of more than 62 years, Bertha Dunaway Bruning; sons, Howard Bruning, Tampa, Fla.
