George Valhouli, 77, former resident of Haverhill, MA, died Friday, November 5, at his home in Cape Canaveral, FL, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Marlene (Paduchowski Rosinski) Valhouli.
Born in Haverhill on September 19, 1938, the son of Greek immigrants, the late George and Fannie (Pappachristos) Valhouli. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1956. He also was a graduate of Norwich University in Vermont, where he received his degree in business administration. While at Norwich, he was an outstanding football player and exceptional skier. Mr. Valhouli was inducted into the Norwich Football Hall of Fame and also the Ski Team Hall of Fame.
Mr. Valhouli also served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Before retiring, he was the owner and manager of the Valhouli building on Hale Street in Haverhill. After his retirement, he and his wife relocated to their home in Cape Canaveral, Florida, where they enjoyed the warm sun and beautiful waters off Cocoa Beach.
Mr. Valhouli enjoyed many of the New England sports teams, being an avid follower of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He loved to walk on the beach, ride his bicycle, and he loved animals, especially his cat, Fluffy.
Mr. Valhouli is survived by his grandson, Matthew E. Rosinski, of Dracut, MA, his goddaughter and granddaughter, Laura J. Tillson and her husband Aric, of Dracut, great grandchildren Joseph and Emily Tillson of Dracut, several nieces and nephews, his life-long best friends, Chris and Betty Kitsopoulos, and his many dear friends at the Villages of Seaport, where he resided. He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene, his step-son Gary E. Rosinski, his step-daughter Gail P. Rosinski, his brother John Valhouli, his sister Thalia Pevna, his neice, Nancy Valoras, and nephew, George J. Valoras.
