Tom is survived by his wife, Elizabeth B. Vanta of Niceville, Fla; daughter, Sarah and husband, Justin Hand of San Antonio, TX; son, Jason and wife, Sandra Vanta of Osan Air Force Base, South Korea; grandchildren, Charlotte and Holly Hand; and sister, Margaret Jackson of Somerville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Fippin and George Harry Vanta, and sister, Ellen (Kim) Vanta.
He was born September 18, 1948 in Knoxville, TN and moved to Orlando, Fla., where he graduated high school.
Tom took great joy in and was devoted to his wife, children and granddaughters. He was an avid furniture refinisher and a frequent blood donor. In addition, he was a longtime leader and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
