On Juyl 26, 2007, George Sonnenleiter, Jr. passed away after a two year illness with Lou Gehrigs’ Disease. He is the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Blanche Carolyn; loving father of Alan, Scott, and Mark; dear brother of Carolyn Hein, and the late Wesley Sonnenleiter; caring father-in-law to Phyllis and Debbie; cherished grandfather of Todd and his wife Jen, Lynn, Katie, Jason, Chelsea, and Grace; and devoted great grandfather of Darren. George attended Vocational Technical School. After graduating, he served in the United States Army 1943-1946, and also served in World War II. He received a Good Conduct Medal. George began working for MTA in 1947, where he became the Maintenance Superintendant and later retired from in 1988. George was a member of the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels.
