George A. “Snuffo” Anderson, 63, of 798 E. Fourth St., Galesburg, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at home. George was born October 11, 1946 in Galesburg, the son of Arthur and Shirley Strom Anderson.
He married Linda Goffrier in August 2006 in Galesburg. Surviving is his wife, Linda of Galesburg; 1 son, Donovan Anderson of Galesburg; 3 daughters, Tonia and Lola Anderson both of Galesburg, and Tara Anderson-Smith of Grand Blank, MI; a brother, Rick Anderson of Galesburg; and step daughters, Carrie Fitzsimmons of Galesburg, and Patty of Iowa City, IA. Also surviving is 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several cousins including Willard Strom. George worked in bridge maintenance for the railroad for many years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Vesper Lodge A.F. & A.M. #584, Mohammed El Bon Shrine Club and was a Shrine clown known as “Snuffo”. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Peoria. He was an accomplished magician and enjoyed fishing. He belonged to the Hook and Bullet Club and the Boots and Saddles Club. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Wataga.
