George S. Cofield, 91, of Bridgeport, former long time resident of Fairfield passed away on Wednesday May 11, 2022. George was the devoted husband of the late Barbara Jeanne Dillon Cofield. George was born in Cincinnati, OH on February 10, 1931 to the late Sidney and Margie Hancock Cofield.
George proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was also a graduate of Indiana University. George had a long and successful career working for General Electric. After moving to Fairfield in 1973, George and his family became active members of St.
George is the loving father of George S. Cofield II ( Wende), Gwyn Gartsu (Greg). He was the proud grandfather of Taryn, Megan & Caitlin Cofield; Katy, Nick & John Gartsu. A great grandfather to Jameson Gysel; Alexandra, Josephine & Catherine Beauchamp; and Arvid Öhrberg.
