Rutter, George Malcolm “Mal” passed away in his Trussville home on November 22, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born and raised in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College and was in the US Army Reserves. He worked in the family business, Rutter Brothers Lumber Co. and also served as a volunteer fireman. The family then moved in 1965 to Newcomerstown, Ohio. While in Newcomerstown, he was active in the Lions, Kiwanis, the Elks and served as a volunteer for the school crossing guard program. He and wife Peg then moved to Trussville, Alabama in 1997 upon retirement where he was a life time member of the Elks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laila Olive (Konkel) Rutter, father, Paul Arthur Rutter and his beloved wife of 58 years Margaret Ellen Miller Rutter also of Turtle Creek, Pa. He is survived by his four children, Randall Paul Rutter (Kala) of Trussville, Judith Rutter VanVoorhis (Ron) of Howard, Ohio, Jeffrey Scott Rutter (Christine) of Birmingham and Barbara Rutter McCarthy (Kevin) of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Lindsey VanVoorhis Reyman (Jake) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Allison VanVoorhis Bryant (Justin) of Zionsville, Indiana, Michael Paul Rutter (Stephanie) of Douglasville, Georgia, Ashley Nicole Rutter of Birmingham and Jordan Scott Rutter of Birmingham; one great-grandchild Carson Blaine Rutter, of Douglasville, Georgia.
