George Robert “Bob” Kilpatrick, age 87, passed away on May 16, 2017, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Bob was the son of the late Lewis A. and Willie Reid Kilpatrick. Bob was born in Gadsden, Alabama and was a longtime resident of Eutaw and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Engineering and worked for American Bridge as a lead Engineer on suspension bridges such as the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York, the Angostura Bridge in Venezuela and the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. In the late 1960s he moved to Eutaw where he was in the cattle business and operated a feed supply business. After retirement, he moved to Tuscaloosa. He is survived by a sister, Mary Griffith of Rome, New York; a niece, Susan C. Holman of Asheville, North Carolina; and nephews, John C. Holman of Alpharetta, Georgia and James F. Homan, Jr. of Boulder, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Kilpatrick Holman and Margaret Kilpatrick Gilleland and his brother, Lewis R. Kilpatrick. Longtime friends included Bruce Livingston, Billy Prout, Dennis Herndon and the late Claude Livingston.
