A life well-lived is a precious gift of hope, strength, and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.

George Davis Sr. was born on January 29, 1946, to the late Dale Davis Sr. and Queen Ester Davis in Hillsboro, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Verdell Davis, Sarah Hamilton, and Charley Davis.

George accepted Christ at an early age and joined the David Temple Church, where he served faithfully on the usher board until his health declined. He was a proud graduate of Tenn. Valley High School and a pilar and servant to his community.

George had a great love and passion for his community and all those who lived within it.

George married the love of his life; Mildred and their great life together began. He was a God-loving strong family man, a loving husband, a great dad and granddad, a giving soul, and caregiver. He was a benevolent and faithful person who never met a stranger. George was a joy to be around with his great sense of humor. He was dedicated to serving the elderly and the sick. To many, he was known as “The Chicken Man” because he barbecued chicken and delivered them throughout the community. He loved to cook for his family, the church, and people who were not able to cook for themselves.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife Mildred, and four affectionate and devoted sons: George Davis Jr. (Lisa) of Moulton, AL; Michael Davis (Marie)  and Bernard Davis both of Hillsboro, AL and  Minister Jason Davis (Miranda) of Decatur, AL; four sisters; Lucinda White and Laura Cayce both of Madison, AL and Matilda Thompson of Harvest, AL and Elesia Jemison of Hillsboro, AL;  Seven brothers; Dale Davis Jr and Edward Davis (Rhonda) both of Hillsboro, AL; Ricky Davis (Queen) of Alexandria, LA , Danny Davis (Marie) of Decatur, AL and Michael Davis of Orange, TX;  Donald Watkins( Janice) and Tony Watkins (Debra) both of Hillsboro and Vincent Watkins (Tamika) of Meridian MS, two sisters-in-law Rose Davis of Detroit, MI and Linda Austin of Hillsboro, AL; two brothers-in-law; McKinley Bowman, Jr. (Damita) and Wayne Bowman (Lucy) both of Hillsboro, AL; fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
