Lakeland – G. Raymond Lyles, 82, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, as a result of complications of pneumonia.
Mr. Lyles was born December 1, 1930 in Washington D. C. He and his family moved to Lakeland in 1981 from Miami. Mr. Lyles was an honorably discharged veteran of the Florida National Guard. He was a Mason and past master of Biscayne Bay Lodge 124. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Mahi Shrine. Mr. Lyles was also a member of the Bartow Adult Concert Band where he played the tenor saxophone. He was the owner/operator of Abacus Hobbies where he served the community with his vast knowledge of stamps, coins and other collectibles for over fifty years.
Mr. Lyles was preceded in death by his son, William Lyles. He is survived by his beloved wife, of fifty nine years, Patricia Lyles; sons, Thomas Lyles, Robert Lyles and his wife, Heather and John Lyles and his wife, Lisa; sister, Ediee Joffre; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
