George Robert Snowden, Sr. (also known as “Junior” and “Jack”), son of the late Robert L. and Alma P. Snowden was born June 6, 1933 in Washington, DC. Junior attended school in Montgomery County, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1950.
When he finished school, his father was looking forward to Junior working with him, but instead Junior enlisted in the United States Air Force with his cousin and four friends. During the time he was in the service he gave himself the nickname “Jack” because he said there were too many men in the service with the name George. After his tour of duty he was honorably discharged in 1956.
In 1958, he married the late Shirley Shields and from this union two sons were born.
After his father died in 1979, Junior became the image of his father.
Junior married Joyce Marbley in 2008 and they became a loving and caring couple.
On Saturday, September 17, 2011, while quietly alone at home, God call his name and whispered “Come To Me” and Junior answered with outstretched arms leaving all of us in a state of shock, but also knowing that GOD makes no mistakes.
George leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce Marbley Snowden; two sons, George R., Jr. and Bryan E.
