George R. McCarthy, Jr., 67, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Kearny, he resided there before moving to Cliffwood Beach, 35 years ago. He worked as a diesel mechanic with Rollins Trucking, Edison, for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the American Legion Post #23, Keyport. He served his country in the Army during peacetime.
George is predeceased by his first wife, Bette Wood in 2001; and his second wife, Sarah Clarke in 2007. He is survived by his children and their spouses; Coleen and Thomas Murphy of Cliffwood Beach; George and Patricia McCarthy, III, of Secaucus; Brian and Deborah McCarthy of Laurence Harbor; Robert McCarthy of Avenel; John and Sandra McCarthy of Kearny; and Tracey and Thomas Walczak of Conroe, TX; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
