George N. Hall, 93 of Centralia passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Fireside House of Centralia, surrounded by his family.

He was born October 15, 1922 in East St. Louis, IL, son of George N. Hall, Sr. and Cora Bell (Johnson) Hall. He married Nora Jean Ward on October 14, 1949 in Mt. Vernon and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2000.

George is survived by daughters: Barbara Ross of Robinson, IL, Vickie Houser and husband Wayne, and Sherri Hall all of Centralia, IL, grandchildren: Craig Ross and wife Jewel of Broxton, GA, Doug Ross of Robinson, IL, and Nick Houser and wife Felicia of West Frankfort, IL, great-grandchildren: Craig S. Ross and wife Charlotte of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Brown and husband Calvin of Mint Hill, NC, Gabe, Zack and Ben Houser of West Frankfort, IL, brother-in-law, John Simmons, sister-in-law, Doris Braddy,and many special nieces and nephews, family and friends.

George was preceded in death by wife, Jean Hall, mother and father, George and Cora Hall, Ed & Lena Tate who raised him and their daughter Eva, siblings: Genevieve Mullins, Adeline Holmes, Joseph (Jim) Hall, father and mother-law: Ed & Nora (Harlow) Ward, son-in-law: Bill Ross, sister-in-law: Becky Simmons, Mary Ward, brothers-in-law: Bill & Harold Ward, and Lester Braddy.

George went to school in Jefferson County, IL. He worked as a gauger for Sohio Pipleline/BP Company for 45 years.

George was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army and was awarded: Sharp Shooter, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Overseas Bars, Army of Occupation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. George was passionate about family and friends, Cardinal baseball, his bible study group, and was an avid gardener, and enjoyed traveling.
