George Merich, 76, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Monday, June 12, 2006 at St. Anthony Memorial Health Center in Michigan City, Indiana.
George was born September 24, 1929 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to George and Anna Merich. He served his country with the US Army during World War II and also during the Korean War. George was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. On October 26, 1950, he married Lillian McDermott in Petersburg, Virginia. He was employed as an Ironworker with Local 395 in Hammond, Indiana, retiring in 1991. George loved working in his yard and being in the great outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; sons, George A. “Chip” Merich of Hoboken, New Jersey and Craig D. Merich of Three Oaks, and his sister, Marian Gabriel of Grand Haven, Michigan. In addition to his parents,
George was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Brian, his brother Charles and sister, Mary.
