George Melvin Herndon, Jr., 83, a resident of St. Marks, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on December 22, 2015.
Born January 24, 1932, in Headland, Alabama, he was the son of the late George Melvin Herndon, Sr., and the late Gladys Parramore Herndon. Also preceding him in death are his wife of 54 years, Audrey Lee Herndon, and brother, Charles “Doonie” Herndon. He was a retired data processor with the City of Tallahassee, faithfully served in the United States Army, and was also a minister. He is survived by his children, Thomas James Herndon, Sr. (Dawn Wright), Bobo Herndon (Sharon Browning); Randy (Carrol) Herndon, and Denise (Andy) Waters; grandchildren, Thomas (Ellyn) Herndon, Christina Murray, Michael (Kim) Sims, Melissa (Chad) Smith, April (Lee) Wix, Kari (Josh) Crum, Matthew (Heather) Sims; great-grandchildren, Leigha Murray, Jenna Murray, Madi Sims, Chase Sims, Caydence Randy Smith, Chad Ryan Smith, Dusty Wix, and Sadie Wix. Jacob Crum, Brady Crum.
